We all have heard throughout the year that the next year will be better than the previous. We make declarations and make list of things we are going to different. The items continue on and on. While going throughout my morning, I hear the Lord say that your new year does not start until you declare it to be a new year. The new year can start in March, June, or whatever. It is timeout with going with the trend and follow the rhythm of God. Your new year could have been last week, but you missed it by saying I’ll wait until the calendar new year to get things together. God is calling us to get things together right now. There are those who will not make it to December 31. So instead of waiting to get your life together on the 31, don’t go to sleep tonight before you make things right with God.
Have you asked God the plan He wants for you?The Lord told the prophet Jeremiah: “Call to Me and I will answer you, and show you great and mighty things which you do not know” (Jeremiah 33:3; NIV). He told David: “I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you and watch over you” (Psalm 32:8; NIV). If we will call to Him asking what He wants for you, He will show you and guide you.

In Wednesday bible study, my pastor talked about being created in the image of God. I began to think I realized that I struggle at times with self-esteem. Sometimes I cannot accept who God made me to be and ask why. People are caught up on the image of a person rather than who they actually are. Then I asked myself, What is image? What did God meant by image? As humans, we think of image as of what something looks like on the external. It is more of a visual representation. With God he is talking about the soul. An internal representation. The great soul, of man, that does especially bear God’s image. The soul is a spirit, an intelligent immortal spirit, an influencing active spirit, resembling God, the Father of Spirits, and the soul of the world. The spirit of man is the candle of the Lord (Proverbs 20:27).
In Genesis 1:26 says, “Then God said, “Let us make man in our image, according to our likeness…”” The passage does not specify in what way mankind bears God’s image. “Image” (representation) and “likeness” (similarity) are synonymous- both referring to something made after the pattern of something else. God’s image upon man consists in knowledge, righteousness, and true holiness. It is not about what you look or your swag but how you carry yourself as an ambassador of the Kingdom. It is important to explore the knowledge, the righteousness, and the holiness of God. For in these characteristics, we find out who we are suppose to be. This is the image of God. In this we are held accountable for our actions and the words that we say. From previous post, I have been challenge not to speak ill of anyone but to speak life. Lately I have been slacking. I was reminded a few days ago that my words hold power and I have a choice to speak of good or of evil. When God speaks, His words have power and since we are made in His image our words can have the same results.
Walking in His image is challenging especially if you are constantly wrestling with the image of the flesh. That is why it is so important to die daily to your flesh and to put on the image of God. The image of God is in us, we just have to stop burying it under the world view of who were are suppose to be and achieve. Walking in truth and holiness is the ultimate goal and daily we will look more and more like God.
